In the existence of our lives, there is a single coincidence that brings us together and for a moment, our hearts beat as one.
He lets out a breath. “Me too. I can’t seem to escape it. Every time I shut my eyes, all I see is the hate on their faces and fists and feet coming at me.” I swallow hard. “Sometimes, I swear, I can still smell him.” “I can still smell the dirt and the taste of blood,” he whispers. “And feel the pain.”
